A leading litigation-focused law firm is seeking an Assistant Managing Clerk to join its Litigation Department. This role works closely with the Managing Clerk, attorneys, and legal assistants, and plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely filing, service, and docketing across state and federal courts.
The Assistant Managing Clerk provides firmwide support and guidance related to court filings, service of process, docketing, and court rules compliance. This position is ideal for a clerk or managing attorney office professional who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable acting as a resource for attorneys and legal staff.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as liaison with court personnel regarding filing, service, and retrieval of legal papers
Arrange and manage service of process using outside vendors
Prepare, review, and electronically file documents in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court-specific rules
Distribute filed documents and court updates to attorneys and legal assistants
Enter litigation documents and maintain deadlines in the firm’s docketing and case management system (CourtAlert)
Provide guidance to attorneys and legal assistants on local, state, and federal filing procedures
Monitor and apply Federal and State Court Rules (FRCP, CPLR, and local rules)
Assist with additional litigation support and clerk-related responsibilities as needed
