Production Planner – Contract-to-Hire
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Pay: $28-$30/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, onsite preferred; hybrid option (1-2 remote days/week) available after 4-6 weeks of training
Duration: 3-6 months contract with potential for full-time hire
Position Summary
A Beacon Hill client in Minneapolis is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Planner to support manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for planning and tracking the production of components and kit assemblies using ERP/MRP systems to meet customer demand efficiently. Experience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage product lines of limited complexity with oversight from management.
- Plan manufacturing schedules based on Master Production Schedule, balancing customer needs and inventory levels.
- Monitor and manage production orders using internal software systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Maintain forecasts and safety stock levels using historical sales data.
- Track and manage open, past due, and planned production orders.
- Communicate production expectations with manufacturing, quality, and customer care teams.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including customer backorders.
- Identify and salvage usable components from expired items.
- Support the launch of new kits and products.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Adhere to company safety and operational policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
- 2+ years of planning experience; manufacturing planning preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and data analysis capabilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills
- Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
- Understanding of planning techniques, MRP, inventory control, and manufacturing cycles.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
