The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the organizatoin to achieve strategic financial goals and maintain organizational sustainability. This position oversees Accounts Payable and Receivable functions and manages day-to-day general accounting activities, including full-cycle AP/AR, revenue recognition, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and subsidiary systems. The Senior Accountant ensures all closing and reporting processes meet established deadlines.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead AP/AR Operations: Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialists, ensuring timely vendor payments, accurate coding, and proper posting in financial systems (e.g., SAGE, Bill.com). Manage credit card purchases, expense reimbursements, and review deposits.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Perform balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, subsidiary system reconciliations, and prepare supporting schedules. Process and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance.
  • Revenue Recognition & Compliance: Apply non-profit accounting expertise to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and funding requirements.
  • Audit Preparation: Manage the preparation and consolidation of audit documentation for external auditors, including financial statements and schedules.
  • Systems Management: Maintain security and dashboard access for financial platforms; ensure synchronization of data between systems (Salesforce, Bill.com, Bill Spend and Expense, SAGE).
  • Policy & Internal Controls: Maintain and update internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures; recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Workflow Optimization: Support efficient accounting workflows to meet deadlines under the direction of the Controller; perform other related duties as assigned.
