The Accounting Manager oversees all accounting and financial operations, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports in compliance with GAAP. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of accounting records, strengthening internal controls, managing budgets, and mitigating financial risk. The Accounting Manager prepares and files required government reports, maintains fixed asset and property records, supports audits and tax filings, and leads and mentors the accounting team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the monthly close process, including preparation of workpapers, reconciliations, and month-end balances
Prepare and review monthly financial statements and perform analytical review of operating results
Ensure accurate accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP
Identify, document, and implement accounting policies and procedures to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting accuracy
Prepare workpapers and provide support for the annual audit and tax return in coordination with external CPA firms
Conduct research and analysis on tax, compliance, and regulatory matters affecting the company, customers, and business partners
Perform cash flow forecasting and cash projections to manage liquidity effectively
Oversee all aspects of the payroll function
Assist with the annual 401(k) audit and related compliance requirements
Maintain and prepare fixed asset and depreciation reports
Continuously improve close and reporting processes to ensure timely reporting, proper segregation of duties, and strong internal controls
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements
Provide accurate and timely financial information to support business decision-making
Perform analytical review of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow activity from both financial and operational perspectives
Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff to promote collaboration and team effectiveness
Serve as backup for transactional accounting functions including A/R, A/P, G/L, credit, and chargebacks
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a management role
3-5 years of auditing experience with a small to mid-sized accounting firm
CPA preferred
Strong attention to detail with high standards for accuracy
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work with technical and complex financial data for extended periods
Comprehensive knowledge of general accounting principles and managerial accounting practices
