Job Description: Senior Compensation Manager
Hire Type: Contract -to-hire
Location: Minnetonka, MN – Onsite 3+ days/week (Tuesday-Thursday required)
Hourly Range: $72 – $80 per hour
(Equivalent to $150,000-$170,000 annually; eligible for 10% bonus upon conversion)
Start Date: 02/23/2026
Hours: 40 per week
Position Overview
The Senior Compensation Manager is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Medica’s compensation programs to ensure internal equity, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance. The role partners closely with HR leadership and business leaders to develop strategies that attract, retain, and motivate top talent.
The ideal candidate is a working leader with strong sales compensation expertise. Executive compensation experience is a plus. This role manages a team of three Senior Compensation Consultants (Total Rewards Analyst IV).
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development (30%)
- Provide daily oversight, coaching, and development to a team of three Senior Compensation Consultants.
- Promote a collaborative, high‑performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
- Set expectations, assign work, and monitor progress toward team goals.
Compensation Program Management (30%)
- Lead the design, administration, and optimization of base pay programs, annual incentives, and sales compensation structures.
- Ensure compensation programs remain competitive, equitable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Maintain strong subject matter expertise in general, sales, and executive compensation programs.
Compensation Infrastructure & Architecture (15%)
- Maintain job architecture, salary structures, and compensation governance frameworks.
- Oversee accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of compensation systems and processes.
- Partner with HRIS and payroll to enhance systems, data integrity, and reporting capabilities.
Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement (20%)
- Advise HR Business Partners and leaders on compensation strategy and complex program issues.
- Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and regulatory compliance reviews.
- Communicate compensation philosophy and program updates to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
Project Management & Continuous Improvement (5%)
- Lead or support cross‑functional total rewards and process improvement initiatives.
- Monitor market trends and best practices to drive enhancements to compensation programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive compensation experience with strong background in sales compensation and/or executive compensation.
- Previous experience managing compensation professionals.
- Strong analytical skills; excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
