We are seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the full financial operations of a growing healthcare organization based in Marina del Rey. This role functions as a brand controller, acting as the financial owner of the business and a strategic partner to executive leadership. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with operational insight and supports both day-to-day finance and long-term business decision making.
This is a highly visible role responsible for owning the financial close, reporting, budgeting, and internal controls while partnering closely with operations, revenue cycle, and leadership to ensure financial health, compliance, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership and Oversight
Serve as the primary financial owner for the organization, providing accurate and timely financial reporting and insights
Partner closely with executive leadership to support strategic planning, forecasting, and business decisions
Act as a financial thought partner to operations and clinical leadership on performance and growth initiatives
Accounting and Close
Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Oversee the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements
Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Analysis
Lead the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting process
Analyze financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide clear explanations to leadership
Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to healthcare operations, revenue, and cost management
Revenue Cycle and Operations Support
Partner with revenue cycle and billing teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and collections
Monitor payer mix, reimbursement trends, and cash flow
Support operational leaders with financial analysis tied to staffing, service lines, and utilization
Compliance and Audit
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable healthcare regulations
Manage external audits, tax filings, and third-party reviews as needed
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
Team Leadership and Process Improvement
Oversee and mentor accounting staff or outsourced resources
Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
Support implementation and optimization of accounting and financial systems
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA strongly preferred
Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within healthcare or healthcare-adjacent organizations
Prior experience functioning as a Controller or senior accounting leader
Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare financial operations
Experience partnering with operations and executive leadership
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems and reporting tools
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
