Role Overview
An Aerospace client of ours is looking for a full-time Field Service Representative (FSR) to join our team. In this position, you will play a crucial role supporting the integration and test of networked communication systems. These consultants will be traveling to Navy bases to teach sailors how to install, connect, troubleshoot, and support the communication pods that our client makes.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the following:
- Provide on-site technical support for the operation of podded communication systems
- Provide technical liaison to supported military units/elements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation which includes test plans and procedures
- Develop configurations to support tests and prototypes of developing systems
- Develop troubleshooting procedures and work-around documentation
- Conduct systems and sub-systems testing
- Review and provide feedback on system specifications, development, test, and network documents
- Install and configure Windows/Linux servers
- Set up and maintain DNS/Exchange/Active Directory
- Maintain virtual environments
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain network gear to include switches, servers, firewalls, etc. and troubleshoot network related problems
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
- 4+ years of experience with systems testing, networking, or other IT related fields
- Tactical Data Link familiarity with L-16 (Link 16) TDLs in MIDS, JTRS, or TTNT environment We are NOT looking for Link-11, Link-22, or Ballistic Missile Defense.
- Experience w/ RF testing, strong with RF theory.
- Experienced with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc. (understanding of how to tune testing devices and set up test scenarios, etc)
- Live field testing, experience with military communication systems required.
- Working knowledge of routing, switching, protocols, layers 2-3 routing/switching
- Must possess high proficiency in Linux and Windows
- Must have a high-level understanding of automation and implementation, understand how to run scripts, etc
** These contractors will be trained on the installation and support of these specific communication pods, but must have experience installing and testing field equipment and RF systems compatible with Link 16 networks.
Field Environment Expectations:
Ability to work in field environments, including shipyards, airfields, and military installations.
Ability to lift and install equipment (up to ~40 lbs), rack/stack hardware, and work around RF systems.
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education
- Automation, scripting, or other development experience in either Python or JavaScript
- Knowledge of Containerized Virtual Environments- Maintaining and troubleshooting virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper‑V, or similar)
- Experience developing scripts in ansible
- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, logging results using solutions such as JIRA and or Confluence
- Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic environment
