HR Assistant
Location: Plymouth, MN – Local applicants preferred/prioritized and must be within an hour and half commute from their Plymouth, MN office
Contract-to-Hire | Monday – Wednesday Onsite, Thursday & Friday Working from Home
Salary: $25-$27 per hour

Beacon Hill’s client is hiring an HR Assistant to join their team out of their Plymouth, MN location. In this contract to hire role, you will be supporting payroll processes and HRIS system data entry tasks within the organization! This is a great long-term role and ideally best suited for someone who has great attention to detail.
Position Overview
The HR Assistant provides administrative and payroll support to ensure employee information is accurate, organized, and processed on time. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is detail-oriented, eager to learn payroll and HR processes, and enjoys helping others. Training and ongoing support will be provided.
General Responsibilities
- Enter employee and payroll information accurately into company systems.
- Provide friendly and professional support to employees and internal teams.
- Assist with department projects, including data checks and basic audits.
- Complete assigned tasks on time with guidance from leadership.
- Maintain and file employee records and documentation for assigned areas.
- Provide backup support for team members when needed, including during absences.
- Help follow established procedures and learn how to maintain documentation for assigned processes.
- Support document cleanup and organization efforts in line with record retention guidelines.
- Perform additional administrative and support duties as assigned.
Payroll Responsibilities
- Support the payroll team with timely and accurate payroll processing for employees in multiple states.
- Enter and track payroll exceptions, such as missed punches or corrections, under supervision.
- Review employee timecards during the pay period to help identify errors or missing information.
- Assist with post‑payroll tasks shortly after payroll is completed.
- Respond to basic payroll and timecard questions from employees and managers, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Participate in regular audits of payroll and timekeeping data to help ensure accuracy.
- Assist with overtime calculations following provided guidelines.
- Help process and file payroll‑related notices, including garnishment and termination documentation.
- Organize, scan, and file payroll reports and records.
- Update employee information such as addresses, direct deposit details, and tax elections as requested.
- Assist with weekly employee roster reviews and track updates or changes.
- Communicate regularly with the payroll manager and team to ask questions and share updates.
- Help train employees and managers on how to use timecards and basic payroll system features.
- Review data files for errors and assist with research and corrections.
- Support follow‑ups related to HSAs, Social Security verification, and unclaimed 401(k) checks.
- Assist with benefits audits and reviews as directed.
- Help prepare taxable benefit information for payroll processing.
- File promotion and offer letter documentation.
- Maintain accurate payroll and timekeeping records.
- Perform other payroll‑related tasks as assigned.
