We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and build safety programs across active job sites. This role is ideal for a hands‑on, field‑based safety professional who is comfortable working in industrial environments, traveling between job sites, and partnering closely with operations and leadership. This is a full‑time, on-site position with regional travel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the boots‑on‑the‑ground safety leader across multiple construction and service job sites
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) and site‑specific safety plans
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910/1926 and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Conduct regular job‑site safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
- Deliver safety orientations, ongoing training, and toolbox talks for field teams
- Coach supervisors, foremen, and technicians on safe work practices and expectations
- Exercise stop‑work authority when unsafe conditions are identified
- Lead incident and near‑miss investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain accurate, audit‑ready safety documentation, reports, and records
- Partner with Operations, HR, and leadership on workers’ compensation, claims, and safety metrics
- Monitor and report on key indicators such as EMR, TRIR, and DART
- Travel regularly to job sites across Illinois, with occasional travel to Wisconsin and Indiana (some overnight)
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in construction safety, preferably within mechanical, HVAC, or industrial environments preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards (1926)
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Experience conducting incident investigations and driving corrective action
