Title: Senior Platform Engineer
The Role
Senior Platform Engineer who thrives at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, backend engineering, and developer enablement. You’ll help build and “productize” platform capabilities that make it easier for engineering teams to build, ship, and operate software-securely, reliably, and at scale.
This is not a traditional ops role and not purely application development. The focus is on platform-as-a-product: creating reusable “paved roads,” internal services, and self‑service automation that reduces friction for developers and infrastructure teams.
What You’ll Do
Platform & Cloud Engineering
- Design, build, and operate cloud-native platforms (AWS-centric) with strong emphasis on security, scalability, reliability, and cost awareness
- Build automation that eliminates repetitive requests (e.g., deployment workflows, secrets/credential workflows, environment provisioning, guardrails)
- Embed AI-assisted/agentic workflows into engineering processes (CI/CD, provisioning, operational tooling, incident response)
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform preferred)
- Partner with security/reliability stakeholders to build compliance-friendly guardrails into platform workflows
Backend & Systems Development
- Build backend services and APIs that power internal platform capabilities and self-service tooling
- Develop automation and internal tools (Python-heavy; other languages welcome depending on fit)
- Contribute to service architecture decisions: resilience patterns, observability, and maintainability
- Perform code reviews and influence standards for performance, operability, and long-term supportability
Developer Enablement
- Create self-service experiences that reduce ticket volume and improve developer velocity
- Improve CI/CD, release automation, and deployment strategies (including safe rollout patterns like blue/green)
- Write clear documentation and developer-facing guidance-DX matters
Technical Leadership
- Act as a senior IC-mentor, raise the bar, and lead by example in operational excellence
- Participate in architecture reviews and roadmap discussions
- Support incident response and post-incident learning (as needed)
Must-Have Qualifications
- AI-first engineering mindset: you actively use modern AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, or similar) to accelerate delivery and improve quality
- Strong Python development skills, especially building APIs/services and automation
- Hands-on AWS experience across multiple services (examples: EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS/Aurora, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.)
- Experience in Platform Engineering / Cloud Ops automation / SRE-style tooling / internal platform development
- Proven ability to build secure, scalable internal tooling that other engineers rely on
Nice-to-Have / Plus Skills
- GitHub Actions (or similar) CI/CD pipeline experience
- Experience building or supporting a developer self-service portal / internal developer platform (IDP) or similar developer enablement tooling
- Terraform module patterns, governance/guardrails, and multi-environment strategy
- Kubernetes and container orchestration experience (EKS or equivalent)
- Familiarity with regulated environments (security/compliance constraints)
