Position Summary
This role supports daily operations within an animal research facility and contributes to study‑related activities through hands‑on animal care, facility support, and compliant documentation. The position plays an important role in maintaining animal welfare, operational readiness, and study support activities.
Key Functions
- Perform routine animal care activities, including enclosure servicing and general room upkeep.
- Conduct scheduled animal observations to support health monitoring and welfare standards.
- Support animal population tracking, breeding activities, and inventory management.
- Assist with upkeep and operation of facility equipment and services required for daily operations.
- Coordinate intake and housing of incoming animals in accordance with established procedures.
- Participate in routine environmental monitoring and preventative facility checks.
- Support sanitation processes, including operation of wash systems, sterilization equipment, and related support areas.
- Identify operational issues and contribute recommendations to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Execute all assigned tasks in alignment with approved procedures and study requirements.
- Complete documentation accurately and consistently in accordance with regulated recordkeeping standards.
- Handle laboratory animals confidently, ethically, and in accordance with welfare guidelines.
- Provide additional operational support as needed to meet facility and research demands.
Experience & Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher preferred; background in biological or life sciences is beneficial.
- Flexibility to work non‑traditional schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical animal care and research support.
- Prior hands‑on experience with laboratory animals, including handling techniques.
- Ability to function effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly with documentation.
- Clear communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Familiarity with controlled laboratory environments, procedures, and guidelines.
- Comfortable using standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
