An Orlando firm is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Guardianship Legal Assistant to support attorneys in the firm’s Orlando office. This role provides administrative and legal support in guardianship and related probate matters, requiring strong organization, discretion, and familiarity with Florida guardianship procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, format, proofread, and file guardianship pleadings, petitions, motions, and correspondence
- Assist with court filings and compliance with Florida guardianship rules, deadlines, and reporting requirements
- Support guardianship administration, including inventories, care plans, annual plans, and accountings
- Maintain guardianship calendars and track statutory deadlines and court-ordered reporting obligations
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, clerks, auditors, healthcare providers, and case managers
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic guardianship files and confidential records
- Coordinate hearings, evaluations, and related appointments
- Assist attorneys with correspondence and document collection related to wards, guardians, and fiduciaries
- Perform general administrative duties, including time entry, billing support, document management, and expense tracking
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of legal assistant experience, preferably in guardianship, probate, or elder law
- Working knowledge of Florida guardianship procedures, court filings, and statutory deadlines
- Strong document formatting, proofreading, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal document management systems
- Excellent attention to detail, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced law firm environment
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience with guardianship reporting requirements (inventories, care plans, accountings)
- Familiarity with probate courts and clerks in Central Florida
