Staff Pharmacist

Job Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for accurately dispensing medications, providing patient counseling, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations. This role plays a critical part in promoting safe and effective medication use while delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately review, interpret, and dispense medications in accordance with physician orders and regulatory guidelines
  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and adherence
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and resolve prescription issues
  • Ensure compliance with all state board of pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and company policies
  • Perform final verification of prescriptions and oversee pharmacy workflow and technician activities
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation within pharmacy systems
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage controlled substances, and ensure proper storage of medications
  • Identify and resolve potential medication errors or drug interactions
  • Support immunization services and health screenings (as applicable)
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm), active license as a Kentucky State Pharmacist.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy setting
  • Experience with medication therapy management (MTM) programs
  • Familiarity with compounding processes
