Staff Pharmacist
Job Summary
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for accurately dispensing medications, providing patient counseling, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations. This role plays a critical part in promoting safe and effective medication use while delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately review, interpret, and dispense medications in accordance with physician orders and regulatory guidelines
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and adherence
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and resolve prescription issues
- Ensure compliance with all state board of pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and company policies
- Perform final verification of prescriptions and oversee pharmacy workflow and technician activities
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation within pharmacy systems
- Monitor inventory levels, manage controlled substances, and ensure proper storage of medications
- Identify and resolve potential medication errors or drug interactions
- Support immunization services and health screenings (as applicable)
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm), active license as a Kentucky State Pharmacist.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy setting
- Experience with medication therapy management (MTM) programs
- Familiarity with compounding processes
