Civil Litigation Paralegal (Insurance Defense)

Location: [Dallas, TX / Hybrid / Onsite – customize]

Position Overview

We are seeking a Civil Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support a dynamic insurance defense practice. This role will focus on the defense of insurance companies and their insureds in construction defect and personal injury matters, supporting attorneys throughout the lifecycle of litigation-from pre-suit through trial.

Key Responsibilities

Litigation Support

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of civil litigation, including case intake, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Draft and manage discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and deposition notices
  • Prepare and organize case files, exhibits, and trial materials
  • Maintain accurate case calendars and track deadlines

Case & Document Management

  • Manage and maintain electronic and physical case files from inception through resolution
  • Coordinate document collection, review, and production
  • Summarize medical records, depositions, and case materials
  • Organize and analyze large volumes of litigation data

Court Filings & Proceedings

  • E-file documents in state and federal courts
  • Prepare materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibits and witness materials

Coordination & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, experts, carriers, and vendors
  • Coordinate scheduling for depositions, mediations, and court proceedings
  • Support communication with insurance adjusters and insured clients

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of litigation paralegal or legal assistant experience, ideally within insurance defense
  • Experience with construction defect and/or personal injury defense litigation strongly preferred
  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and timelines
  • Experience with e-filing in state and federal courts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management systems

  • Experience summarizing medical records and deposition transcripts
