Brickell law firm has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Medical Malpractice Defense Paralegal. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of medical malpractice defense experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys throughout all phases of medical malpractice litigation
- Manage and maintain case files from inception through trial
- Review, organize, and summarize medical records
- Prepare medical chronologies, deposition summaries, and case summaries
- Draft pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, notices, and correspondence
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, expert witness meetings, and trial preparation
- Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, healthcare providers, and opposing counsel
- Monitor litigation deadlines and maintain attorney calendars
- Assist with trial exhibits, witness files, and courtroom preparation
- Perform electronic court filings in Florida state and federal courts
- Support attorneys with additional litigation-related responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of recent medical malpractice defense paralegal experience
- Strong knowledge of Florida state court procedures, litigation deadlines, and e-filing requirements
- Experience reviewing and organizing extensive medical records
- Ability to prepare medical chronologies and deposition summaries
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and litigation document management systems
- Trial experience is preferred
