Our client is looking for a Director of DevOps to sit in Raleigh, NC.
Important Skills
Technical – Strong hands-on java and related frameworks, cloud technologies (AWS preferred but not required), CI/CD pipelining, Python, Java
Soft- Strong aptitude for hands-on development, ability to lead a technical team, eagerness to understand the why in engineering
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the enterprise DevOps roadmap aligned with business priorities
- Champion CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and cloud-native architectures
- Present delivery metrics, innovation initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies to executive stakeholders
- Build and mentor a global DevOps team to scale platform capabilities
Technical Excellence & Innovation
- Oversee Terraform implementations for multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
- Lead containerization strategies using ECS and EKS with secure, scalable orchestration
- Drive automation of infrastructure provisioning, deployment pipelines, and monitoring
- Evaluate and integrate AI-powered tools into DevOps workflows (code generation, automated testing, incident response, predictive analytics)
- Evaluate and implement emerging tools that improve productivity, resilience, and developer experience
Day to Day:
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers while remaining actively engaged in the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale applications built on Java and modern development frameworks. Drive engineering excellence through adoption of DevOps best practices, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native development methodologies to improve platform reliability, scalability, and team efficiency. Partner closely with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, and business leaders to define technical strategy, establish engineering metrics, and ensure successful execution of key initiatives. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to modernize applications, streamline development processes, and accelerate delivery through automation and emerging technologies.
