Medical Laboratory Technician
We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join a diagnostic laboratory focused on molecular testing. This individual will support laboratory operations through specimen processing, DNA extraction, PCR testing, molecular assays, and analysis of patient samples in a regulated clinical laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform molecular diagnostic testing on patient specimens following established laboratory procedures.
- Conduct DNA and/or nucleic acid extraction from a variety of specimen types.
- Prepare samples, reagents, controls, and consumables for testing workflows.
- Perform PCR, qPCR, and other molecular assays according to standard operating procedures.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation as needed.
- Review test results for accuracy and assist with quality control activities.
- Accurately document testing activities and maintain laboratory records.
- Follow laboratory quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with inventory management, reagent preparation, and laboratory organization.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to maintain efficient turnaround times and high-quality patient testing.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
- Hands-on experience performing PCR, qPCR, or other molecular diagnostic testing.
- Experience with molecular diagnostics workflows, including DNA/RNA extraction and assay preparation.
- Experience working in a clinical, diagnostic, molecular, or regulated laboratory environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established laboratory procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or related laboratory background.
- Experience with molecular microbiology, infectious disease testing, or other clinical molecular assays.
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, or other regulated laboratory environments.
- Experience troubleshooting laboratory instruments and performing quality control activities.
