Beacon Hill is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Central New Jersey seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager. This individual will lead a team of 4 accountants and play a key role in financial operations, reporting, and strategic support.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering strong remote flexibility, with occasional in-office presence required on an as-needed basis. Candidates must be located in New Jersey to be considered for this role, within a reasonable commute. Experience with MIP is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with nonprofit standards
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Oversee grant accounting and compliance reporting
- Ensure accuracy of general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Coordinate and lead annual audits and liaise with external auditors
- Monitor cash flow and financial health of the organization
- Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes
- Oversee payroll review and approval processes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within the nonprofit sector
- Hands-on experience with MIP Accounting Software (required)
- Strong proficiency with Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
