A Beacon Hill client in the manufacturing and distribution industry is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team in Swedesboro, NJ. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering $31-$34/hour, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll processing experience, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume, multi-state payroll operations. Prior payroll experience in a fast-paced environment is required.
Position Summary:
* Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
* Ensure accuracy of payroll data including hours, bonuses, deductions, and taxes
* Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
* Handle payroll adjustments, off-cycle payments, and terminations
* Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
* Support audits and reporting related to payroll activities
* Collaborate with HR and accounting on employee data and reporting
Technical Qualifications:
* 3-5+ years of payroll processing experience required
* Experience with multi-state payroll (NJ/PA preferred)
* Proficiency in payroll systems
* Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, basic formulas required)
* Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
* Strong organizational and time management skills
