Our client in the nonprofit industry is seeking a strong senior accountant on a full-time basis. They have more than doubled in size since 2020 and continue to grow!
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of the organization through oversight of general ledger activities, month-end close, and financial reporting. This role will support the finance team in ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant reporting, while also supporting grant reporting and budget tracking. Experience in nonprofit accounting and Sage Intacct is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in Sage Intacct.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting models.
- Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds in compliance with donor and grantor requirements.
- Support annual audit and 990 preparation by compiling documentation and liaising with external auditors.
- Reconcile accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Collaborate with program managers to provide financial insights on spending and budget performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to internal controls documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA-track preferred).
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong proficiency with Sage Intacct (highly preferred).
- Experience with grant tracking, fund accounting, and donor restrictions.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote/hybrid team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Excel and reporting tools prefered (e.g., Power BI, Martus, etc.).
- Experience supporting federal grant reporting (e.g., Uniform Guidance).
