Summary:
The Senior Accountant will oversee key accounting operations, lead payroll processes, manage complex reconciliations, and implement internal controls. This role requires strong experience in operational accounting, financial accuracy, and process improvement in a dynamic business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and process payroll accurately and in compliance with regulations.
- Review and reconcile payroll journal entries and general ledger postings.
- Ensure payroll tax reporting and support year-end payroll documentation.
- Perform complex reconciliations (e.g., bank, balance sheet accounts) and resolve variances.
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and support system enhancements.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors and third-party providers.
- Document and improve SOPs for accounting and payroll functions.
- Support vendor compliance documentation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience in general ledger accounting and payroll management.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage confidential information.
Preferred
- CPA, CMA, or comparable certification.
- Experience with multi-state payroll and HR/payroll systems.
- Supervisory or mentoring experience.
- Master’s degree or payroll-related certification (CPP) is a plus.
