Beacon Hill has partnered with a manufacturing company south of Chicago in hiring a Bilingual Human Resources Generalist to start immediately. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HR professional to support the accurate and timely processing of payroll, administration of employee benefits for both union and non-union staff plus recruiting. The ideal candidate is fluent in Spanish and English, has strong knowledge of payroll systems and labor agreements, and thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process biweekly and semimonthly payroll for union and non-union employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and legal requirements.
- Maintain employee records related to payroll, timekeeping, benefits enrollment, and changes.
- Interpret and apply labor union contracts and wage scales to ensure proper payroll processing for union employees.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to pay, time off, deductions, and benefits, providing support in both English and [other language].
- Coordinate benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations; liaise with third-party benefits vendors.
- Reconcile benefits invoices and ensure accurate benefit deductions.
- Assist with year-end processes including W-2s and ACA reporting.
- Stay current on relevant federal, state, and local employment laws affecting payroll and benefits.
- Partner with HR, Accounting, and union representatives to resolve issues and support smooth payroll operations.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop job descriptions for both union and non-union roles.
- Post jobs, screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate interviews with hiring teams.
- Provide a positive candidate experience and clear communication throughout the hiring process.
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- 3+ years of payroll and benefits experience; union payroll experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, UKG) and HRIS platforms.
- Strong understanding of benefits administration (medical, dental, vision, FSA, 401k, etc.).
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and union payroll practices.
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA compliance.
