Our client a national nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Media Relations Manager to join their team on a temporary basis in Washington, D.C.
About The Job:
- Lead media relations efforts for a national nonprofit focused on affordable housing and community development
- Develop and execute media strategies to secure coverage across national, regional, broadcast, and trade outlets
- Draft press materials including press releases, media advisories, pitches, and talking points
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and external stakeholders
- Monitor media trends and coverage, providing insights to inform communications strategy
- Support crisis communications, including responding to media inquiries and preparing statements
- Assist with broadcast outreach and spokesperson preparation as needed
About You:
- 7+ years of experience in media relations required
- Proven ability to pitch and secure media coverage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong news judgment and ability to develop compelling story ideas
- Experience with media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision) and Microsoft Office
- Highly organized with strong project management and prioritization skills
- Experience in housing, nonprofit, or community development environments is a plus
About The Position:
- Start Date: Beginning of June
- $36-$40/hr
- Duration: 5-month contract
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm
- Hybrid: 2 days onsite in Washington, DC
