Beacon Hill Legal is partnering with a boutique intellectual property law firm seeking an experienced Patent Prosecution Specialist to support sophisticated U.S. and international patent prosecution matters for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, university, and life sciences clients. This position is ideal for someone who can take ownership of an active prosecution portfolio with minimal ramp-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and coordinate U.S. and foreign patent prosecution filings.
- Prepare and file IDSs, assignments, declarations, powers of attorney, and other formal documents.
- Support patent maintenance matters, client reporting, USPTO correspondence, and related prosecution workflows.
- Coordinate with clients, foreign associates, attorneys, and the USPTO to keep matters progressing accurately and on time.
- Maintain electronic matter files and proactively monitor complex patent portfolios for potential issues and upcoming deadlines.
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of U.S. patent prosecution procedures, USPTO filings, and docketing workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage numerous competing deadlines.
- Professional communication skills and experience working with clients and foreign associates.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned matters, and collaborate closely with attorneys and legal support staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; a background in legal studies or a scientific discipline is preferred.
- At least 2-5 years of hands-on U.S. patent prosecution experience within an intellectual property law firm.
- Experience with international patent prosecution and AppColl or comparable IP docketing software is preferred.
