Job Title: Private Equity Senior Associate
Overview
The Private Equity Senior Associate plays a critical role in evaluating, executing, and managing investments across the full deal lifecycle. This position involves leading deal workstreams, mentoring junior team members, and partnering closely with Vice Presidents and Principals on investment decisions, portfolio value creation, and exit planning. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong investment judgment, advanced financial modeling expertise, and the ability to independently drive workstreams in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Execution & Leadership
- Lead key workstreams for new investments, including financial modeling, valuation, and investment thesis development
- Build and review complex LBO and operating models, including scenario and sensitivity analyses
- Coordinate and manage external advisors (investment banks, consultants, legal and accounting firms) during due diligence
- Draft and present investment committee materials, including risks, returns, and downside analyses
- Support transaction structuring, financing negotiations, and closing processes
Portfolio Management & Value Creation
- Serve as a primary day‑to‑day contact for assigned portfolio companies
- Monitor financial performance, liquidity, covenant compliance, and KPIs
- Support operational improvement initiatives, add‑on acquisitions, refinancings, and strategic initiatives
- Prepare board materials and participate in board and management meetings
- Assist in exit planning, including sell‑side diligence and marketing materials
Mentorship & Firm Contribution
- Review and oversee work produced by Associates and Analysts
- Provide on‑the‑job coaching and technical guidance
- Contribute to firm‑wide initiatives such as sector research, fundraising support, and investment process improvements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field
- 4-6 years of relevant experience, typically including:
- Investment banking (M&A or leveraged finance), and
- Private equity, growth equity, or transaction‑focused investing experience
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills with the ability to independently review models
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level presentation ability
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead workstreams independently
Preferred
- MBA or progress toward CFA/CPA
- Prior experience working directly with portfolio company management teams
- Sector expertise aligned with the firm’s investment strategy
