POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an ambitious, curious, and detail-oriented scientist at the Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist/Scientist level to join our growing team. Working closely with our other R&D scientists, you will help drive drug discovery and development efforts by designing and conducting experiments. This is an exciting opportunity to work with, and learn from, multidisciplinary teams in a small, fast-paced biotechnology company. The successful candidate should be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and is accustomed to delivering robust high-quality data on a timeline. A key part of this role will be to undertake in-vivo experiments in a vivarium.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Animal care and monitoring:
- Provide daily care and monitoring of mice, including health checks and documentation.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all procedures and animal health status; investigate adverse study events.
- Tumor implantations:
- Perform precise implantation or injection of tumor cells into mice to establish models for oncology studies.
- Monitor and document tumor growth and animal health.
- Dosing procedures:
- Administer compounds by all routes (i.v., i.p., s.q., p.o.) accurately and safely.
- Tissue harvesting:
- Collect blood, tumor tissue, and organs including spleen and lymph nodes for processing and analysis.
- Compliance and safety:
- Follow all institutional, local, and federal regulations regarding animal care and use.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Meticulous electronic lab notebook documentation.
- In addition to the in-vivo pharmacology role, the successful applicant will have an opportunity to gain experience of all aspects of antibody engineering including phage and yeast display; immunopeptidomics and mass spectroscopy; flow cytometry and tissue culture.
- Communicate experimental plans and results to the leadership team.
- On-site work only, no hybrid or remote option.
- Occasional weekend or holiday work may be necessary depending on study needs. (This will be compensated separately).
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (Veterinary Technology, biology, chemistry, animal sciences, or related field) and at least 3-5 years of experience or Master’s Degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience or PhD with 0 years of expeirence.
- At least 2 years of industry experience in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company or full-time academic lab experience.
- Expertise with oncology studies including experience with tumor cell implantations and compound dosing preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with formulation of small molecules and biologics.
- Experience culturing cell lines and/or primary immune cells is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share scientific findings.
- Passion for working at the bench and in the vivarium to advance programs and solve technical challenges.
- Self-motivation and adaptability to evolving project priorities and responsibilities.
- Team-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to learn new techniques for which training will be provided.
