Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing key day-to-day accounting operations, including payroll and accounts payable, while playing a hands-on role in the month-end close process and general ledger accounting activities. The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with finance leadership and serve as a people manager and process owner within the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Accounts Payable Oversight
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, reconciliations, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Act as a liaison with HR and third-party payroll providers on payroll-related matters.
- Manage and review the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, approvals, payment runs, vendor maintenance, and 1099 compliance.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures related to payroll and accounts payable.
Month-End Close & General Ledger
- Support and actively participate in the monthly close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain ownership of assigned general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances in a timely manner.
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff supporting payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting functions.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality work and professional growth.
- Collaborate with finance leadership on audits, budgeting, forecasting, and special projects.
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies within accounting operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and month-end close responsibilities.
- Prior experience overseeing payroll and accounts payable functions.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing or mentoring accounting staff.
