Custom Home Estimator / Operations Manager

The Job

A high-end custom home builder needs someone to run estimating and keep projects on budget. You handle the numbers side of the business so the owner can focus on building.

This is not an accounting job. An outside accountant handles the monthly books. Your focus is estimating, tracking costs, and keeping clients updated on their budgets.

What You’ll Do

• Build estimates for custom homes, renovations, and additions.
• Review scopes, specs, plans, and subcontractor bids.
• Track project costs against budget each week.
• Send clients weekly budget updates.
• Build and maintain an Excel database of costs, estimates, and vendor data.
• Review finished projects to see what worked and what to fix next time.
• Work with the owner, project managers, and vendors to keep numbers accurate.

What You Need

• 10+ years in custom home building or high-end residential construction.
• Strong estimating experience on custom projects.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and bids.
• Good grasp of job costing and project budgets.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Comfort working in a small, hands-on business.
• Buildertrend, Procore, QuickBooks, or Sage experience is a plus.
