A regional bank is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join their team. This role is responsible for conducting in-depth financial analysis of commercial and consumer loan requests, ensuring sound credit decisions that align with the bank’s risk appetite. The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating complex business financials, underwriting commercial loans, and supporting relationship managers in portfolio management and credit risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and underwrite commercial loan requests (CRE, C&I, SBA, etc.) including new originations, renewals, and modifications.

Conduct financial statement and cash flow analysis of businesses and guarantors to assess creditworthiness.

Review and interpret tax returns, balance sheets, income statements, and other financial documents.

Prepare credit memoranda with well-supported recommendations for loan approval, modification, or decline.

Evaluate consumer loan applications on a limited basis, including home equity, auto, and personal loans.

Monitor the performance of assigned loan portfolios; identify potential risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

Work closely with loan officers, credit officers, and senior management to structure loan terms that align with both customer needs and the bank’s credit standards.

Stay up to date on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.

Assist in loan reviews, credit scoring updates, and internal audits or regulatory examinations as needed.

Mentor junior credit analysts and support staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

2+ years of credit analysis experience, with a strong emphasis on commercial lending.

Proficient in interpreting complex financial data and underwriting mid-market business loans.

Working knowledge of banking regulations, loan policy, and risk grading systems.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented, with excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
