Staff Accountant
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Role Overview
We’re seeking a Staff Accountant to support core accounting, reporting, and analysis activities within a collaborative and fast‑paced finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in debits and credits, strong Excel skills, and an interest in expanding into data analysis and modern reporting tools. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities, work closely with business partners, and develop skills beyond traditional close work. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with month‑end close and financial reporting activities
- Prepare and post journal entries across balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Prepare and support filing of select business tax returns (e.g., sales & use, business privilege, personal property), ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including prepaid expenses and accruals
- Perform financial statement variance analysis and provide explanations
- Support forecasting and plan vs. actual analysis
- Prepare and analyze profit & loss statements for assigned business units or regions and respond to management inquiries
- Assist with internal and external audit requests
- Collaborate with business stakeholders on ad‑hoc analysis and reporting needs
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or Business with a strong accounting concentration)
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles (debits & credits)
- High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage deadlines effectively
- Strong time‑management skills and a positive, team‑first attitude
- Exposure to or interest in modern reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, similar platforms)
- Comfortable interacting with business partners and explaining financial results
