Summary
The Cost Accounting Manager oversees inventory and cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment, ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with operations and finance to support decision-making, maintain strong controls, and drive process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Manage inventory and cost accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Lead monthly close activities including reconciliations and variance analysis
- Analyze cost drivers, production variances, and provide actionable insights
- Ensure accurate COGS reporting and inventory valuation
- Maintain internal controls and support audit requirements
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations and FP&A
- Identify and implement process improvements and reporting enhancements
- Lead and develop accounting staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-7+ years of cost or inventory accounting experience
- Strong understanding of manufacturing costing and inventory processes
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
