Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant
Location: Georgetown, Washington, DC
Overview:
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Georgetown, Washington, DC in their search for a Senior Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This role will support core operational accounting functions with a strong focus on month-end close, balance sheet management, internal audit support, and accounts receivable. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with strong attention to detail and a solid foundation in day-to-day accounting operations. This position is fully onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as part of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate cutoff and timely reporting.
Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, research variances, and maintain supporting schedules and documentation.
Support internal audit activities, including audit testing, documentation, and ensuring GAAP-compliant, audit-ready records.
Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, cash application, account reconciliations, and aging review.
Assist with the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), identifying process improvements and strengthening internal controls.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in operational accounting, including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and AR functions.
Working knowledge of internal controls, audit support, and compliance best practices.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
Experience with accounting systems such as Opera, BirchStreet, Blackline, or Ontrac is a plus; hotel or hospitality industry experience is preferred but not required.
