Property Accountant – Chevy Chase, MD
Overview:
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Chevy Chase, MD seeking a Property Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties. This fully onsite role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in property-level accounting and a solid understanding of lease and expense recovery structures, including CAM reconciliations.
Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements for assigned properties in accordance with GAAP.
Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Manage property-level general ledger activity, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
Review rent rolls, tenant billings, and lease abstracts to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes for property operations and capital expenditures.
Assist with operating expense reviews and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with lease terms.
Coordinate with property managers and internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and support operational needs.
Assist with audit requests and maintain organized financial documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Working knowledge of CAM reconciliations and property expense recoveries.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and property management or accounting software.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
