ASSISTANT CONTROLLER: DETAILS
Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Columbia TN
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $90k-100k
Type: Contract to Hire | Direct Hire
Hours: Standard Business Hours | Monday – Friday
Note: This is 100% onsite position
REQUIREMENTS: ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting
* 4+ years of recent experience working as an Accountant looking to elevate into an assistant controller
* Cost accounting experience
* Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting
* Familiarity with IFRS accounting standards a plus
* Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance in a manufacturing environment
* Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
* CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES: ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
* Assist in the timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and analysis for management
* Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
* Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
* Maintain and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets
* Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, and variance analysis
* Analyze manufacturing costs, labor, and overhead expenses to provide insights for management
* Partner with operations teams to improve inventory valuation and cycle count accuracy
* Ensure accurate reporting of inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) accounts
* Support daily cash processing and ensure that all items, including intercompany, have been posted in the proper general ledger and asset accounts
* Assist with state and federal tax filing requirements
* Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff to enhance their technical and professional development
* Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of accounting team members
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the department
* Experienced Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join our team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled accounting professional with a background in manufacturing, cost accounting, and inventory management seeking to grow into a Senior Controller role.
* Assist in developing annual budgets and periodic forecasts
* Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis
* Support financial planning initiatives and strategic decision-making
* Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and financial reporting requirements
* Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements
* Assist in ERP system implementations and enhancements related to accounting and reporting
