The company manages 140 properties and expects to grow to 200 by year-end. With significant growth and an internal focus on Yardi automation projects, they need a strong Lease Accountant/Bookkeeper who can handle daily accounting operations and keep the books running smoothly.
Role Overview
The Lease Accountant/Bookkeeper will handle the day-to-day accounting functions for a large residential property portfolio. This person will support regular lease activity, tenant billing, reconciliations, and monthly accounting tasks while the internal team focuses on system automation and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update lease schedules, rent rolls, renewals, escalations, and CAM changes
- Prepare and issue monthly tenant billings and statements
- Record cash receipts, track delinquencies, and assist with collections
- Reconcile tenant accounts, security deposits, and lease-related balance sheet accounts
- Complete AP/AR bookkeeping tasks and bank reconciliations
- Assist with month-end close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Support CAM reconciliations and communicate adjustments to tenants
- Collaborate with property managers and internal teams regarding lease data accuracy
- Assist with audits, property transitions, and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in lease accounting, property accounting, or bookkeeping
- Hands-on experience with Yardi is required
- Strong knowledge of lease terms, rent schedules, and CAM concepts
- High attention to detail and ability to manage recurring deadlines
- Proficient with Excel and general accounting systems
- Strong communication and organizational skills
