Senior Tax Associate
Location: Boston, MA
Schedule: 4 days per week in office
Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000 base salary + bonus
Overview
A leading alternative investment management firm is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join its Boston-based tax team. This position offers broad exposure to fund tax compliance, tax reporting, tax planning, and special projects across a diverse portfolio of investment strategies. The role provides significant interaction with investment professionals, finance, legal, operations, investor relations, and external advisors in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate with external tax advisors and fund accountants to support the preparation and filing of partnership tax returns and investor tax reporting.
* Review tax workpapers, allocations, estimates, and supporting schedules prepared by external service providers.
* Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting requirements, including estimated tax payments, withholding obligations, and investor reporting.
* Support tax planning initiatives, fund structuring projects, and other strategic tax matters.
* Respond to investor tax inquiries and requests in partnership with internal teams.
* Assist with managing tax notices, audits, and correspondence from federal, state, and local taxing authorities.
* Prepare presentations, spreadsheets, organizational charts, and other materials related to tax projects and business initiatives.
* Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams on new transactions, structures, and process improvements.
* Participate in technology enhancement initiatives, including automation and AI-driven solutions.
* Maintain tax databases, trackers, and reporting tools while identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* CPA preferred.
* 2+ years of tax experience, preferably within public accounting, financial services, asset management, private equity, hedge funds, alternative investments, or related industries.
* Understanding of partnership taxation and investment fund structures is preferred.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
* Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of projects and continuously learn.
