Beacon Hill Financial is working with a non-profit in Rosslyn, VA to bring an experienced Senior GL Accountant to their team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and grant-related accounting requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in general ledger accounting and prior experience in the non-profit sector. Experience with Abila MIP is preferred. This role is based on a hybrid schedule and will require a few days on site a week.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.

Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

Assist in the preparation of financial statements, annual audits, and 990 filings.

Support the financial management of grants, including reviewing grant agreements, setting up grant budgets in the accounting system, and ensuring proper coding of grant-related expenses.

Monitor grant expenditures for compliance with donor restrictions and reporting requirements; assist with preparation of financial reports to funders.

Collaborate with program and development staff to support grant proposal budgets and reporting deadlines.

Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and financial reporting.

Qualifications:

Experience in the non-profit sector is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and non-profit grant compliance requirements (e.g., federal or private grants).

Experience with Abila MIP or similar non-profit accounting software is highly desirable.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.

Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment with limited supervision.
