Bookkeeper – College Park, MD
Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a local company in the search for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their accounting team. This position will report directly to the Controller and play a key role in managing the company’s day-to-day financial operations using QuickBooks. The ideal candidate will handle full-cycle bookkeeping responsibilities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and bank reconciliations. Primary Responsibilities:
- Record daily financial transactions in QuickBooks, including invoices, bills, deposits, credit card activity, and journal entries
- Manage accounts payable by entering vendor and subcontractor invoices, verifying approvals, and processing payments
- Handle accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, applying payments, and monitoring aging reports
- Maintain accurate job costing by coding expenses to the appropriate jobs, cost codes, and classes
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with payroll processing and allocate labor costs to the appropriate jobs
- Track subcontractor payments and maintain documentation for 1099 reporting
- Prepare monthly financial reports including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Job Cost reports
- Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Work closely with project managers and operations staff to provide financial support and job cost updates
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Coordinate with external accountants during audits and tax preparation
