Staff Accountant (Revenue Focus)

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant (Revenue Focus) is responsible for supporting revenue accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with GAAP and ASC 606 standards. This role partners closely with Revenue Accounting, FP&A, Sales Operations, Legal, and Customer Success teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, contract compliance, and timely financial reporting. The position plays a key role in the month-end close process, audit support, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and record journal entries related to deferred revenue, accounts receivable adjustments, and contractual incentives.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and flux analyses for revenue-related accounts.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting, including revenue disclosures and SEC reporting schedules.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, company accounting policies, and SOX control requirements.

Month-End Close & General Ledger Support

  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Review and reconcile revenue-related accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide support to the General Ledger team with fixed assets, accruals, intercompany transactions, and other accounting functions as needed to meet close deadlines.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Partner with Finance Systems teams to enhance ERP functionality and revenue automation processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the order-to-cash cycle.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on streamlining billing, revenue recognition, and reporting processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales Operations, Legal, FP&A, and Customer Success teams to resolve revenue-related issues and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Review customer contracts and provide accounting guidance on deal structure considerations related to revenue recognition.
  • Support ad hoc projects and special initiatives aligned with evolving business needs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within revenue accounting, public accounting, or a technology-focused environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
