Beacon Hill is working with an organization in Alexandria, VA to bring a Payroll Accountant to their team. This role follows a hybrid schedule, combining remote work with regular on-site presence. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of payroll best practices, general accounting principles, and excellent analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for multi-state employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity within the payroll system.

Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and assist with month-end close processes.

Manage employee deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings.

Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters in a timely and professional manner.

Coordinate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters and audits.

Assist with the preparation of annual W-2s, 941s, and other required filings.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required.

2+ years of payroll and general accounting experience.

Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms).

Solid understanding of payroll laws and regulations.

Strong Excel and data analysis skills.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Experience with multi-state payroll is preferred.
Schedule:
This is a hybrid position with 2-3 days onsite per week in Alexandria, VA.
