Senior Financial Specialist
About the Opportunity
A growing professional services organization supporting government-funded programs is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Specialist to join its team. This individual will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, contract oversight, and client-facing financial management activities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting federal contracts, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and financial analysis activities for government-funded programs and contracts.
Manage financial operations related to clients and subcontractors, including budget development and ongoing financial oversight.
Monitor contract funding, burn rates, and financial performance to ensure program objectives are achieved.
Develop financial reports, dashboards, and recommendations to support business and operational decisions.
Create and improve financial processes, controls, and standard operating procedures.
Serve as a key point of contact for clients and subcontractors regarding financial performance and reporting.
Deliver presentations and financial updates to leadership, clients, and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, regulations, and internal policies.
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Maintain accurate financial documentation and reporting utilizing Microsoft Office 365 tools.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
10+ years of experience supporting government-funded programs or federal contract environments.
Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and financial analysis.
Experience with contract funding management, burn rate analysis, and financial performance tracking.
Proven ability to work directly with clients, subcontractors, and senior stakeholders.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
Experience developing financial processes, procedures, and operational controls.
Strong verbal communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and client-facing environment.
Preferred
Active or previously held security clearance.
Experience within government contracting, defense, consulting, or professional services organizations.
Knowledge of financial reporting and dashboard development tools.
Experience with contract management or project accounting platforms.
