Beacon Hill is looking for a Director of Finance to join a mission‑driven nonprofit organization. This role will oversee day‑to‑day financial operations and support accurate reporting, compliance, and strong financial controls. The Director of Finance will work closely with leadership and play a hands‑on role in managing accounting and finance functions.
Overview
- Lead the organization’s accounting and financial operations
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with nonprofit standards
- Support leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger, month‑end close, and financial statements
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
- Oversee nonprofit accounting, including restricted funds and grant activity
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Partner with program and leadership teams on financial needs and reporting
Preferences
- 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
- Nonprofit and/or higher education accounting background strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems
- Hands‑on, collaborative approach with the ability to support a growing team
