Our client, a NYC-based restaurant group, is seeking a Part-Time HR Consultant to support its HR function on an ongoing basis. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting a growing restaurant group with a strong focus on compliance, payroll support, and employee relations. The consultant will work approximately 8-10 hours per week, partnering closely with leadership to ensure HR practices align with New York labor laws and hospitality industry standards. This position will play a key role in managing day-to-day HR operations, including payroll support, tip credit systems, and compliance with wage and hour regulations specific to the restaurant industry. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in New York State labor laws, experience within hospitality or restaurant environments, and the ability to operate independently while addressing employee concerns and maintaining compliance. - Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of HR experience, ideally within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish required.
- Expert-level knowledge of New York labor laws, including wage theft prevention, tip pooling, predictive scheduling, and mandatory sexual harassment training.
- Hands-on experience supporting payroll processes, tip credit systems, and hospitality wage orders.
- Experience managing I-9 verifications, meal credit declarations, and employment separation notices required.
- Strong knowledge of NYS Workers’ Compensation, disability, OSHA/DOHMH regulations, and employee benefits (e.g., 401k, healthcare).
- Proven ability to handle employee relations matters, including addressing concerns and managing disciplinary actions and warnings.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a part-time capacity.
- Comfortable working remotely with occasional onsite meetings as needed.
The pay for this role is $30-$40/hour.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
