Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking an HR Generalist to join its Human Resources team in New York. This is a hands-on, highly visible role supporting the Sr. Director of HR and overseeing a broad range of HR functions across the organization. The position will play a key role in managing full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR operations, while ensuring compliance across a multi-state workforce. This is a well-rounded generalist role with a strong emphasis on recruiting and day-to-day HR support. The individual will partner closely with leadership and hiring managers to drive hiring efforts, support employee engagement initiatives, and maintain efficient HR processes. - Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, required.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a well-rounded HR Generalist or similar role within a small to mid-sized organization.
- Prior experience within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization strongly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience managing full-cycle recruitment, including intake meetings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer management.
- Solid understanding of multi-state employment laws, HR compliance requirements, and best practices; experience supporting a geographically dispersed workforce preferred.
- Proven experience handling employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes, with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
- Exposure to core HR functions including benefits administration, payroll coordination, onboarding, and HR operations.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and confidently across all levels of an organization.
- High level of emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and a polished, professional demeanor.
- Ability to work onsite in NYC office 5 days onsite.
The pay for this role is $38-$41/hour.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
