Job Title: Sourcing Advisor
Type: Contract (6 months, with likely extension)
Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid – 2-3 days onsite preferred)
Role Overview
The Sourcing Advisor serves as a key liaison between Category Managers, internal business stakeholders, and suppliers throughout the sourcing lifecycle. This role supports and manages sourcing process activities while ensuring business requirements are understood, risks are addressed, and value is delivered through optimized cost, quality, and supplier outcomes.
The scope of work will vary and requires collaboration with a diverse group of cross‑functional partners. The ideal candidate brings experience in sourcing, procurement, category management, or finance and is comfortable managing multiple initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
This is a 6‑month contract role with a strong likelihood of extension and a preference for onsite presence in the Madison office 2-3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a point of contact between Category Managers, business owners, and suppliers during sourcing initiatives
- Support and manage sourcing process elements for assigned projects, including:
- Requests for Information, Proposals, and Quotes (RFXs)
- Supplier evaluation and selection
- Negotiation support and supplier due diligence
- Clearly communicate project updates, timelines, and risks to internal stakeholders
- Participate in or facilitate cross‑functional reviews of supplier proposals
- Partner with Contract Analysts to draft, review, and revise supplier agreements
- Participate in contract negotiations to optimize cost, quality, and risk outcomes
- Support supplier relationship management, including preparation for supplier meetings or visits
- Assist in rolling out category management practices in partnership with Category Managers
- Operationalize savings initiatives through analysis, documentation, and contracting
- Document and communicate savings outcomes and support required process changes
- Ensure sourcing standards and best practices are followed through education and guidance
- Identify potential alternate or backup suppliers using market and industry resources
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequently changing priorities
- Analyze spend and supplier data to inform sourcing strategies and decisions
- Apply sourcing and financial analysis techniques such as TCO, ROI, make/buy, and risk assessments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, finance, operations, or a related area
- Demonstrated experience with supplier negotiation and contract management, including understanding of contractual terms and risk mitigation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to mine and interpret spend and supplier data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
- Ability to work independently with limited direction while collaborating cross‑functionally
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Prior hands‑on experience executing sourcing processes or large RFX efforts
