Overview
A well established international manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role is ideal for a detail oriented accounting professional with strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and experience working in a highly automated accounting environment.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, general ledger integrity, and cross border accounting transactions. This position will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting while also identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
* Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
* Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed account analysis and reconciliations
* Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations including accrued expenses, assets, and liabilities
* Assist with internal and external reporting requirements for management and regulatory purposes
Intercompany & Inventory Accounting
* Reconcile intercompany receivable and payable balances with international affiliates
* Ensure accurate accounting for inventory related transactions including purchasing, transfers, sales, and consignment activity
* Partner with operations and finance teams to ensure accurate inventory reporting and cost tracking
Process Improvement & Projects
* Identify opportunities to automate or streamline accounting and reporting workflows
* Participate in special projects and cross functional initiatives supporting the finance department
* Stay current on accounting standards and industry best practices through continuing education and professional development
Qualifications
Education & Experience
* Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field
* 3 to 5 years of progressive general accounting experience
* Experience working within an automated ERP accounting environment
* CPA or CPA track preferred but not required
Technical Skills
* Experience with JD Edwards or a similar ERP system strongly preferred
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with Access is a plus
* Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
