Senior Financial Planner
Position Summary
The Senior Financial Planner is a trusted technical expert and strategic partner, responsible for delivering comprehensive, high-quality financial planning solutions to high-net-worth clients. This role collaborates closely with advisors and other specialists to develop sophisticated strategies across financial, tax, estate, and retirement planning. In addition to client-facing responsibilities, the Senior Financial Planner mentors junior team members and contributes to the advancement of planning standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Financial Planning
- Develop and present customized financial plans addressing cash flow, retirement, education, tax, estate, risk management, and charitable strategies.
- Provide advanced analysis on complex topics such as compensation, Social Security, Medicare, and executive benefits.
- Research and model financial, estate, and tax planning scenarios to support client goals.
Client Engagement
- Participate in client meetings to explain planning strategies and educate clients on complex concepts.
- Collaborate with advisors, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals to implement holistic solutions.
Estate and Legacy Planning
- Review estate documents (wills, trusts, powers of attorney) and provide recommendations to optimize wealth transfer and minimize tax implications.
- Coordinate with estate attorneys to ensure alignment with client objectives.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior planners.
- Review planning deliverables for accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to internal training, thought leadership, and best practice development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- CFP® certification required; CPA or AEP designation a plus.
- 3-5+ years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, or related field.
- Expert knowledge of financial planning concepts, estate strategies, and tax planning.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial planning software.
