Job Title: Bankruptcy & Restructuring Paralegal
Location: Chicago, IL
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in-office per week
Salary: $110,000 – $140,000
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy & Restructuring Paralegal to join a well-established law firm supporting a busy commercial bankruptcy practice. This role provides critical support to attorneys handling complex restructuring matters and high-volume bankruptcy cases. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support attorneys in all aspects of commercial bankruptcy and restructuring matters, including case management and coordination with attorneys, clients, trustees, and court personnel
* Draft and prepare bankruptcy pleadings and related documents, including petitions, first-day motions, proofs of claim, disclosure statements, and fee applications
* Electronically file documents through CM/ECF in various U.S. Bankruptcy Courts while ensuring compliance with federal and local court rules
* Track and maintain case deadlines, hearings, and service lists, ensuring all filings and requirements are completed accurately and on time
* Conduct research using PACER and court dockets and assist attorneys with reviewing and organizing bankruptcy filings
* Prepare and organize hearing binders, exhibits, and other case materials for bankruptcy hearings and related proceedings
* Maintain organized case files and documentation within the firm’s document management system
Qualifications & Skills
* Minimum 5-8+ years of paralegal experience, ideally within bankruptcy or restructuring practices
* Strong knowledge of bankruptcy court procedures, filings, and federal court systems
* Experience working with CM/ECF, PACER, and legal document management systems
* Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment
