We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development and Marketing Manager to lead initiatives that enhance the firm’s visibility, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth. This individual will work closely with firm leadership, attorneys, and practice groups to develop and execute strategic business development and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will have law firm or professional services experience, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies.
This is a hybrid role based in Chicago, offering flexibility to work from home two days a week. The position offers a competitive salary range of $120,000-$150,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Partner with attorneys and practice groups to develop and implement strategic business development plans.
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities, cross-selling initiatives, and industry sector targets.
- Prepare proposals, RFP responses, and pitch materials tailored to client and practice needs.
- Conduct competitive intelligence, market research, and client analysis to support strategic growth.
- Track and report on business development efforts, pipeline opportunities, and ROI.
Marketing & Communications
- Manage the firm’s branding, website, digital platforms, and social media presence.
- Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, newsletters, client alerts, and event materials.
- Develop thought leadership opportunities, including attorney speaking engagements, webinars, and publications.
- Coordinate sponsorships, conferences, and client appreciation events.
- Ensure consistent brand messaging and adherence to firm marketing standards.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives.
- Manage and mentor junior marketing/business development staff.
- Act as a liaison between attorneys, practice groups, and external vendors.
- Provide regular reporting and insights to partners and firm management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
- 7-10+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or client relations within a law firm.
- Strong understanding of legal industry trends, client service, and professional services marketing.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful business development strategies.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in proposal writing, RFP management, and client presentations.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
