Senior IP Trademark Paralegal
An established law firm is seeking a Senior Trademark Paralegal to join their Chicago office. This is a high-level, client-facing role supporting complex, high-volume trademark portfolios in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
The role offers a hybrid schedule of three days onsite and two days remote. The salary range for this position is $100k-$140k, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years of trademark paralegal experience in a law firm and is comfortable managing the full lifecycle of U.S. and international trademark matters. This person is highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle competing deadlines while working closely with attorneys and clients. Strong USPTO prosecution experience and the ability to manage high-volume docketing responsibilities are essential.
Skills required and Job Duties include the following:
Job Duties:
- Manage full lifecycle of U.S. and international trademark matters, including filings, prosecution, renewals, and enforcement
- Prepare and file trademark applications, including drafting goods and services descriptions and reviewing specimens
- Handle USPTO prosecution, including preparing and filing responses to Office Actions
- Assist with oppositions, cancellations, infringement matters, and UDRP proceedings
- Maintain and manage trademark docketing systems, ensuring accurate deadline tracking
- Conduct preliminary trademark searches using USPTO, WIPO, and other databases
- Coordinate full clearance searches with third-party vendors as needed
- Communicate directly with clients and attorneys regarding trademark matters and deadlines
- Collaborate with internal teams to support efficient workflow and high-quality client service
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of trademark paralegal experience in a law firm setting
- Strong experience with USPTO trademark prosecution
- Experience handling U.S. and international trademark portfolios
- Familiarity with oppositions, cancellations, and enforcement matters
- Strong docketing and deadline management experience
- Bachelor’s degree and/or ABA-approved paralegal certificate required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools
- Excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
